b. November 30, 1931

Winston James Gohl Mr. Winston James Gohl, 86 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at his home with his loving wife at his side on the morning of April 1, 2018. He was born on November 30, 1931 in Alpena, Michigan to the late, Orville and Vivian (Naylar) Gohl. As a proud veteran who served his country proudly he retired from the United States Navy in 1969 after 20 years of service. On December 6, 1976 in Tawas, Michigan he married his wife, Mary Anne (Abbe) Gohl and together the couple celebrated 41 years of marriage before his passing. Winston owned and operated the Atlanta Motel for 20 years and was the elected official and township trustee for 12 years. He was a lifetime member of both the VFW Post 9489 and American Legion of Atlanta. Winston enjoyed a variety of hobbies including bowling and curling when he was younger, golfing, and hunting. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne Gohl of Atlanta; and sister, Margaret Manning of Alpena. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Vivian Gohl; and sister, Marie Hall. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside service held in honor of his life at May 9, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery; Holly.
