Walter LaDon Austin Walter LaDon Austin, 83, of Lewiston, MI passed away on May 30, 2010 at his residence. He was born on October 3, 1926 to Herbert and Naomi (Becker) Austin in Grosse Isle, MI. He married Barbara Williams on November 28, 1975 in Lapeer, MI. He has lived in Lewiston for the past 21 yrs formerly of Lapeer, MI. He served his country in the US Army for 8 yrs. He worked form the Flint Board of Education for many years in maintenance. He was a member of the Comins Eagles, Lewiston Moose, Lewiston American Legion, and was a life member Davison VFW Post. He used to enjoy to deer hunt and fish, and was an animal lover. He was an avid woodworker, and was known for the wagons he made for his kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Walt is survived by his wife, Barbara of Lewiston, MI; daughters, Judy (John) Smith of Grandville, MI, and Janet (Ray) Clemens of Lapeer, MI; 5 grandsons; 13 great grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Glougie of Arkansas, Ruth (Harold) Morris of Auburn Hills, MI, and Roberta (Ed) Rose of Hadley, MI. He was preceded in death by a brother Herbert. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Mr Austin will be held on June 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI. Visitation will be held from 12:00 until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Elk Country Animal Shelter.
