Virginia "Jean" Wasek Virginia "Jean" Wasek, 91, of Atlanta, MI passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Hillman's Haven. She was born on July 5, 1919 in Detroit, MI to Joseph and Josephine Kryza. She moved to Atlanta in 1971 then left for Midland, returning to the Atlanta area permanently in 2000. She and her husband, Joseph, owned and operated the Pointe Bait and Sport Shop in Atlanta for 7 years. She was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the Atlanta Rebeccas. She enjoyed crafting, especially ceramics. She also liked to crochet and bake cookies. Jean is survived by her son Robert (Norma Smith) Wasek of Atlanta, MI; daughter, Laura (Richard) Ritter of Atlanta, MI; grandchildren, Brad (Ellen) Ritter, Renee (Jeff) Jankowski, and Colleen (Rob) Hazley; and great grandchildren Joseph, Avery, Noah, Sophia, and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, son, Ron; brother, Raymond Kryza; and sister, Genevieve Kabacinski. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Atlanta, Fr Raymond Cotter officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, and again on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
