Viola Lewanski

Viola Helen Lewanski Viola Helen Lewanski, 97, of Hillman, MI died on January 23, 2016 at her home. She was born on December 9, 1918 to Peter and Hedwig (Jazmirski) Rupinski in Alpena, MI. She married Eugene Lewanski on August 9, 1940. Viola spent most of her life in the Hillman area, having spent some time in Hamtramck, Michigan as well. She enjoyed to sew and made most of her own clothes over the years. She was an avid gardener and was always proud of her tomatoes. She enjoyed being outside in the sun, and loved to watch the deer. She was an avid Tiger's baseball fan. Viola is survived by her son, Robert Lewanski of Troy, MI; daughters, Jeanette Woloszyk of Clinton Township, MI, and Carol (Allen) Walenty of Harrison Township, MI; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; and brothers, Benjamin, Stanley, Walter, and Daniel Rupinski. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 3:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Spring at Hillman-Rust Township Cemetery.
