Vernon Edward Holbrook Vernon Edward Holbrook, 87, of Atlanta, MI, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior on November 21, 2008 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on July 20, 1921 in Miami, West Virginia to Hobert and Catherine (Wilburn) Holbrook. He served his country for 8 yrs during WWII in the US Navy. Vernon retired from GM in 1981 after 26 years there. He moved to Flint, MI in 1955 from West Virginia, and lived there until his retirement, when he moved to Atlanta, MI. Vernon was a member of Big Rock Congregational Church. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden, feed the birds, and watch the wildlife. He was a big Detroit Tigers Fan. Vernon is survived by his wife Beatrice Holbrook of Coldwater, MI; step-daughters Nancy (Gary) Holbrook and Linda Wood; daughter in law, Joan (John Rohloff) McKinnon; grandchildren, Debra (Tod) Dally, Sherry (Doug) Keeslar, Scott (Teresa) McKinnon, Kelley Wood, Leigh Wood, Butch (Darlyn) Holbrook, Darlene Grove, and Brenda Sue (Marty) Miller; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; cherished grand nephew, Ron (Candy) Karr and sons, Don and Rocky and their families; brother, James (Alice) Holbrook; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Catherine Holbrook; first wife, Helen Karr; son Charles McKinnon; brother Ralph Holbrook; and a sister, Ruth France. Funeral services for Mr Holbrook were held on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta, MI, Pastor Brian Tidd officiating. Interment took place at Briley Twp Cemetery.
