Velda Zelle Stevens

Mrs. Velda Zelle Stevens, 79 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey on December 3, 2023. She was born in Alpena, Michigan on April 23, 1944 to the late, Olin and Edna (Sample) Stevens. She resided in Atlanta most all her life and graduated from Atlanta Community Schools. Velda was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed playing piano and BINGO and was an avid gardener who adored her flowers. She is and will be deeply missed.

Velda is survived by her children, Cheryl LaPorte, Steven LaPorte, and Tracey (Crystal) LaPorte all of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Jeffery Stevens of Flint. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Edna Stevens, and husband, Larry Carnell.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial held in celebration of her life at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home. Condolence messages may be sent via our website at www.greenfuneralhomes.com.
