Velbert Neal Harwood Mr. Velbert Neal Harwood, 89 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully on November 20, 2016 at Hillman Haven. He was born on June 3, 1927 to the late, James and Zelda (McIntire) Harwood. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Velbert married his wife, Elfriede (Damm) Harwood on April 20, 1954 in Ohio and together the couple celebrated a wonderful marriage until her passing in 2005. He retired from the General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Flint in 1988 after 30+ years. He was a member and past treasurer of the American Legion Post #198, the Comins Eagles, and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid bowler and used to participate in leagues. Velbert enjoyed a variety of hobbies from music and playing guitar to being outdoors hunting and fishing and taking care of his lawn. He also enjoyed traveling to Germany with his wife and even learned the language. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sister, June Jevizian of Haslett, Michigan; and numerous other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Zelda Harwood; brothers, Everett Harwood; Lloyd Harwood; sister, Dorothy Barr; and nephew, Eugene Allen. Funeral services for Mr. Harwood will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home; Atlanta. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM and again on Saturday from 10:00AM until time of service.
