Vada Louise Hagemeister Vada Louise Hagemeister, 84, of Atlanta, passed away at AuSable Valley Home in Fairview on January 24, 2010. She was born on September 7, 1925 to Burnie and Mildred (Shirey) McElyea in Clarkton, MO. She married Donald Hagemeister on April 7, 1974 in Mt Morris, MI. She has lived in Atlanta since 1984 formerly of Otisville, MI. She retired from GM in 1978 after 25 yrs of service. She was a member of the Atlanta Bible Church and the Montmorency County 4H, where she directed the fair queen pageant for 18 yrs. She was also a member of UAW retiree groups in Mio and Alpena. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and flower gardening in her yard. She was an avid birdwatcher and liked to write poetry. She loved all kinds of music, especially gospel music, in her younger years she sang with her dad and sister in the McElyea Trio in the 30's and 40's. Above all else, she loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Vada is survived by her husband, Donald of Atlanta, MI; daughter, Janet (Dennis) Jones of Flushing, MI; step sons, Donny (Theresa) Hagemeister of Marietta, GA, David Hagemeister of Vanderbilt, MI, and Danny (Cheryl) Hagemeister of Denmark, WI; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Ellis; great grandchild, Randy; a sister; and two brothers. Memorial services for Mrs Hagemeister will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Atlanta Bible Church, Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Elk Country Animal Shelter.
