Thomas Charles May Mr. Thomas Charles May, 73 of Lewiston passed away at his home on July 26, 2012. He was born to Charles and Cecilia (Ohlert) May on December 11, 1938 in Warren, MI. He moved to Lewiston in 1945 and graduated from Atlanta High School in 1957. In 1958 he started his own business called Tom May Trucking which was later called Lewiston Sand and Gravel. He loved to work and had a passion for his company and what he did. He knew everybody and if he didn't know who you were, he would get to know you. He was a kind hearted person who enjoyed to help others and be involved in his community. He helped to create the ski club at Sheridan Valley and worked as a ski instructor there. In 1957, he skied in the Junior National Ski Championship. He also participated in the Lewiston Water Show for over ten years. He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston Moose Club, Lewiston Lions, and also served on the school board. He worked with Wertz Warriors helping children with special needs for over twenty-five years. He enjoyed the outdoors, but above everything, he enjoyed his time spent with his family and friends. He served as a pillar to the community of Lewiston and his dedication was a constant. He is a man that truly will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his children, Mike (Sherry) May of Lewiston; Charles( Marcie) May of Gaylord; Ted (Hope) May of Lewiston; Tommy (Ann Bucys) May of Lewiston; Mark May of Colorado Springs, CO; Amy (Chris) Pohutsky of Gaylord; Sarah (Patrick) Crupi of Tucson, AZ; Mary May of Lewiston; Emily (Rob) Morris of Colorado Springs, CO; Patricia May of Farwell; nineteen grandchildren; mother, Cecelia May of Lewiston; sister, Patricia (Gene) Thornton of Lewiston; and Ellen May of Colorado Springs, CO the mother of his children whom he was married to for forty-one years. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles May. Funeral services for Mr. May will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston, MI; Father Jack Baker officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in the fellowship hall from 3:00PM until 8:00PM. Interment will take place at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetary. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that all donations be made out to the May family to go towards a future Lewiston community project or need.
