Thomas Edward Day Thomas Edward Day, 76, of Johannesburg, MI, passed away on August 11, 2011 at his residence. He was born on December 3, 1934 to Floy and Ella (Carpenter) Day in Lincoln Park, MI. He married the former Peggy Jean Matta on January 30, 1954 in Wyandotte, MI. Thomas has lived in Johannesburg for the past 27 years, formerly of Taylor, MI. He retired from Kelsey Hayes after 30 years of service in 1983 as a set up man. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #596 in Mio, MI. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed morel mushroom picking. He also liked to listen to gospel bluegrass music. Tom is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Kathy Sauro of Kentucky, Edward (Susan) Day of Brownstown, MI, Dawn Finnegan of Gaylord, MI, and Shawn (Daniel) Grezeszak of West Branch, MI; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floy and Ella, sisters, Ruth Parson and Betty Smith; brothers, James, Delbert, Billy, and Herbert Day. As were their wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside memorial service for Mr. Day will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Gingell Cemetery, Vienna Twp, at 2:30 PM, Pastor Sam Smith officiating. A luncheon will be held immediately afterward at Vienna Twp Hall. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home.
