Thomas Banks

Thomas Gerald Banks Mr. Thomas Gerald Banks, 78 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena on November 17, 2017. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on April 7, 1939 to the late, Isma and Irene (Clous) Banks. Thomas resided in Hillman for most of his life graduating from Hillman High School in 1957. He married his loving wife, Mary (Belisle) Banks on November 10, 1962 in Pontiac and together the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. Thomas worked as an account manager for Mycogen Seeds retiring in 2001 after 25 years. He also worked for Farm Bureau Insurance and helped to start Top of Michigan Insurance. He was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hillman and past member of the Knights of Columbus Post 8041 where he served as a grand knight. Thomas was an outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. His grandchildren were the center of his world and his pride and joy. On his last day here he welcomed a great-granddaughter into the world and sat with his grandson in a hunting blind watching him shoot his first buck of the season. Thomas will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Tom (Debbie) Banks of Hillman; daughters, Tricia (Scott) Everett of Ortonville; Debbie (Jim) Mangutz of Mio; Dawn (Jim) Smith of Traverse City; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Bob Banks of Springfield, Ohio; and sisters, Virginia Wilder; and JoAnne Miracle both of Auburn Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isma and Irene Banks; wife, Mary; brother, Walter; sister, Betty Millard; and infant brothers, Leo and Timothy. Funeral services for Mr. Banks will take place at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church; Hillman; Fr. Michael Connor officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the church from 4:00PM until 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations have been suggested to St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Montmorency County Commission on Aging.
