Susie Elinore Smith Susie Elinore Smith, 80, of Lachine, MI passed away at her residence on March 10, 2015. She was born on March 29, 1934 to Fredrick and Alice (James) Shepherd in Wellington Township, MI. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and the Ladies Auxiliary there. She was also a past member of the Hillman VFW and Rust Ladies Auxiliaries. She enjoyed being outside, picking berries or fishing were some of her favorite things. She also liked to crochet, bake, and can vegetables. She loved to work crosswords, polish rocks, and was an avid bowler. Susie is survived by her children MaryJo (Philip) Lemon of Peoria, AZ, Connie (Bud) Shaw of Hillman, MI, Bryan (Debora) Smith of North Branch, MI, and Sandra (Jerome) Fessler of Lachine, MI; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Bev) Shepherd of Taylor, MI, James Shepherd of Lachine, MI, and Chester (Bridget) Shepherd of Hillman, MI; and sisters, Linda (Greg) Gilbert of Wilkes Barre, PA and Betty (Phil) Pesotski of Plains, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Fred Shepherd; husband, Ronald Lloyd Smith; son, Ronald John Smith; brothers, George, Fred, and William; and sisters, Marietta Klein, Joyce Grosinsky, and Georgina Ayotte. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI, Mrs Marsha Marquardt officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. A memorial dinner will be held at Hillman VFW Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena or the Alzheimer's Association.
