Mr. Stanley Carl Babik, 91 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on December 30, 2019. He was born in Sumpter Township, Michigan on April 3, 1928 to the late, Joseph and Helen (Szlachoic) Babik. Stanley served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married his wife, Audrey (Scheffler) Babik on June 26, 1954 in Carlton, Michigan and together the couple celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing. Formerly of Belleville, the couple moved to the Lewiston area in 1991. Stanley retired from the Ford Motor Plant in Ypsilanti after 38 years. He was a member of the St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church, VFW Post 198, American Legion of Lewiston, the Mushroom Club, Polish Legion of American Vets, and the Polish National Alliance #2984. In the past when he used to enjoy snowmobiling he was also a member of the Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile Club. Stanley loved the outdoors and enjoyed to both hunt and fish. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed building, woodworking, farm and yard work, and plumbing. He could do just about anything. He often vacationed at his cabin in Lovells on Shupac Lake and enjoyed to hunt for mushrooms as well. Aside from his work and his hobbies, he valued the time he spent with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Babik of Lewiston; sons, Jerry (Jackie) Babik of Belleville; Ken (Abby) Babik of Willis; daughter, Lynette (Russ) Otto of Almont; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Felix Babik of Kingsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Babik; granddaughter, Trisha Babik; brother, Charles; sisters, Lucille Dargo, Sally Babik, Martha Krystyniak, and Virginia Babik.
Funeral services for Mr. Babik will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston; Fr. Al Pillarelli officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will be at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery, Lewiston in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
