Ruth Caroline Peck Ruth Caroline Peck, 68, of Herron, passed away on March 11, 2008 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Alpena. She was born on June 30, 1939 to Charles and Edna (Freese) McDougall in Alpena, MI. She married Harvey Peck on September 2, 1961 in Alpena. Ruth loved to cooking, baking, and canning. She was an avid reader, especially of inspirational books. She enjoyed traveling to her children's homes to visit with family. She liked to watch westerns on television, especially ones starring John Wayne or Sam Elliot. She also enjoyed playing card games like pinochle, cribbage, and skip-bo, as well as working crossword puzzles. Ruth is survived by her five sons, Jeff (Cherie) of Splendora, TX, Chuck (Cheryl) of Traverse City, MI, Mark (Kathy) of Kincheloe, MI, and William (Jessica) and Jonathon (Darlene) both of Alpena, MI; daughter, Debra Rapoza of Baton Rouge, LA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ann Schiff of Ocala, FL, and Charlene (Jack) Robinette of Ossineke, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; father, Charles McDougall; mother and step father, Edna and Pat Filarski; and an infant sister, Judith Ann McDougall. Funeral services for Mrs Peck will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI, Pastor Ernie Bywater officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena.
