Ruth Marie (Powell) Esler Ruth Marie (Powell) Esler, 103, of Atlanta, MI, formerly of Hillman, passed away on October 15, 2010 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1907 to Burten and Minerva (Wilder) in Green Twp, MI. She spent most of her life in Montmorency County. Ruth worked with her first husband, Martin Powell, as a book keeper and sometime driver for their trucking business, Powell Freight Line, and was a deputy sheriff and matron when he was Sheriff of Montmorency County. She also owned and operated Powell's Adult Foster Care Home for 15+ yrs and was a book keeper and clerk and the Gamble Store in Hillman. She was an avid baker. Ruth loved God, her church, and her family very much, and was a charter member of the Full Gospel Church in Atlanta. Ruth is survived by her sons, Martin (Barbara) Powell of Hillman, MI, and Charles (Darlene) Powell of Flint, MI; daughters, Naomi McCoy of Alpena, MI, and Betty (Don) Wright of Hillman, MI; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Martin Powell and Wayne Esler; son, Eugene Powell; sisters, Rose, Rena, and Evelyn; and brothers, Willard, Wesley, and Raymond. Funeral services for Mrs Esler will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 12:00 PM at the Atlanta Full Gospel Church, Pastor David Fisher officiating. Visitation hours will be held from on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will take place at Hillman Rust Twp Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to the Atlanta Full Gospel Church or to any charity of the donor's choice.
