Russell Scott Kendrick Mr. Russell Scott Kendrick, 69 of Atlanta, MI passed away at home on September 3, 2012. He was born to Merrill and Elizabeth (Scott) Kendrick in Akron, Ohio on December 30, 1942. After graduation he attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where he graduated with his certificate in funeral service. He purchased Green Funeral Home in 1983 where he served the community for twenty-four years before retiring in 2007. Russ was a pillar of the community and had a strong passion for helping others throughout his life. He was a past President of the Atlanta Sports Boosters and also worked on the Thunder Bay Family Medical Clinic Board for years. He was on the steering committee that started the Andy Schollet Memorial Hospice and sat on the board there before continuing on with Hospice of Michigan for years after they merged. Russ was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in all three communities in Montmorency County. He also served on the board of Habitat for Humanity. He was involved in numerous organizations and charities in the area. Russ enjoyed golf, bowling, and loved to travel in his motor home. He was a big University of Michigan football fan. Family and friends were his first priority and he loved helping others. He will be dearly missed by his community and all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie (Guest) Kendrick of Atlanta; sons, Doug (Kristen) Kendrick of Escanaba; Todd (Karen) Kendrick of Atlanta; Ryan Kendrick of Northern Ireland; foster son, Shane Hales of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Alexandra, Charlie, Tucker, Erin, Seth, Jered, Gregory, and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Merrill Kendrick. Funeral services for Mr. Kendrick will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Green Funeral Home in Atlanta, Michigan, at 11:00 AM with Pastors Keith and Ginny Titus officiating. Interment will take place at Albert Twp Cemetery at 3 p.m. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Sara Cumper for all of her help with Russ over the last five years.
