Roselyn "Rosie" Mary Ferguson Dec. 29, 1943-Dec. 29, 2017 Rosie was born on December 29, 1943 to George and Helen (Hind) Guy in Sanilac County, Michigan. Her family later moved to Pleasant Valley, near Hillman, Michigan. She resided most of her life in Montmorency County, settling in Atlanta, Michigan where she raised her own family. Rosie will be remembered as an extraordinary person, who lived a life of integrity, not to mention her entrepreneurial spirit and outstanding work ethic. Rosie was community minded. She served on many township boards including the Airport Board, Avery Township Board, Zoning Committee, Tri Township Fire Department Board, and Atlanta School Board, just to name a few. Rosie took pride in being a Licensed Realtor for more than thirty years. A rule at her business, First Choice Real Estate, was that she never closed a deal without a hug. She never met a stranger. Though Rosie loved her career, her proudest accomplishment was her family. On June 9, 1984 she married Gordon Ferguson at their home in Atlanta, Michigan. Together they shared a love of travel, NASCAR racing, bluegrass music, being at home on Sundays, friends, family and the simpler things in life. Rosie is survived by her husband Gordon, son Dusty (Sue) Miller, daughters Cindy (Jim) Straley, Christine (Ralph) DesOrmeau and Luanne (Walt) Bungard. She is survived by her granddaughters Marlee Valentine, Katie DesOrmeau, Alyssa Griffore (fiancé Brock LaVergne); grandsons Devon (fiancé Mercadez Powell) Miller, Brody Miller, Garth (April) Bungard, Joe (Jolyn) Bungard; great grandchildren, Dougie, Braxton, Bram and Sabine as well as her sisters Leola White and Phyllis Romero and many nieces and nephews. She was affectionately called "Grandma Butterfly" by her grandchildren because she loved butterflies and shared that with them. Also surviving are Gordon's children Rick (Candy) Ferguson, Roger (Carol) Ferguson, Gloria (Jim) McSwain, Russell Ferguson, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Additionally she leaves behind her lifelong friend, Loraine (Carl) Becker. Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Helen Guy; her brothers, Robert, Harold, Junior and John, who she joined in eternal life on her 74th birthday following a brief illness. We can only imagine what heaven will be like as she and her brothers reunite. There is sure to be a fun ruckus! Perhaps you'll fondly remember Rosie whenever you see a butterfly, or hear the song "Hello Darlin". "Her time as a caterpillar is over, and now her wings are ready." A memorial service will be held in celebration of Rosie's life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. Rosie was an advocate of tithing. A percentage of each real estate sale was given to a local charity or organization. In honor of her philanthropic spirit and her love of people, we ask that in lieu of flowers you make a local contribution that will benefit others, share a smile or simply hug.
