Roland Andrew Boersema Mr. Roland Andrew Boersema, 81 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away on November 27, 2012 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. He was born to Jacob and Mildred (Groshans) Boersema in South Bend, Indiana on November 10, 1931. He married wife, Anita Bohnstengel in Plainwell, Michigan on October 1, 1955. Roland has lived in Atlanta for the last fifteen years, formally of Howell. He was a proud veteran and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a printer for many years, retiring from the Ann Arbor News and then going on to work at American Speedy Print in Howell for several years to follow. While living in Howell, he was a very active member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school, participated in the choir, was a member of the men's club, served as church trustee, and also volunteered during youth group. While living in Atlanta he was an active member at the Big Rock Congregational Church. In his free time he enjoyed to hunt and fish, as well as gardening. Roland was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and was always willing to give his time to help others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Anita Boersema of Atlanta; son, Dennis (Anne) Boersema of Johannesburg; daughters, Debora (Randall) Brokaw of Battle Creek; Dawn (Dave) Mudri of Petoskey; grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Amanda, Jordan, Daniel, Justin, Austin, Dane, Levi, Dave Jr.; great-grandchildren, Emma Jo and Kimberly; "adopted" son and daughter, Terry (Ann) Scott and family of Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Mildred Boersema; granddaughter, Daylene Auer; sister, Eleanor Baker; and brother, Ralph Boersema. Funeral services for Mr. Boersema will be held at 3:00PM, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Big Rock Congregational Church; Atlanta, MI, Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Visitation will take place from 1:00PM until time of service. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery; Augusta, MI on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 1:30PM.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Anita Boersema of Atlanta; son, Dennis (Anne) Boersema of Johannesburg; daughters, Debora (Randall) Brokaw of Battle Creek; Dawn (Dave) Mudri of Petoskey; grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Amanda, Jordan, Daniel, Justin, Austin, Dane, Levi, Dave Jr.; great-grandchildren, Emma Jo and Kimberly; "adopted" son and daughter, Terry (Ann) Scott and family of Howell.
