Roger F. ('Duke') Domke Roger F. ('Duke') Domke, 65, of Lewiston, MI, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 20, 2008. He was born on September 20, 1943 to Alfred and Helen (Pluta) Domke in Flint, MI. He graduated from Flushing High School, and then went on to earn a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan. He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, was honorably discharged and returned to Flushing. He worked for the Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority as a park naturalist, managed a construction business, owned and operated his own photography business for some time. He moved to Lewiston in 1999 as a DEQ wetlands manager, and eventually retired from the Department of Environmental Quality as an inspector. He was an avid sportsman and gardener. He loved to fish, hunt, play horseshoes, golf, and play darts. He was a music enthusiast and a bird expert; he could not only identify birds by sight but also by sound. Roger is survived by his daughters, Rachael (Mike Schena) Domke, of Everett, WA, and Sarah (Jeremy) Seguin of Owosso, MI; granddaughter, Piper Seguin; brothers, Rudy (Ruthann) Domke of Fairbanks, AK, and Dale (Paula) Domke of Otisville, MI; sisters, Ruth Ann Schneider of Bloomington, IN, and Ilene (Harry) Turner of North Branch, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews. An informal memorial gathering and celebration of Mr. Domke's life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile Club at 1:00 PM. The family has suggested memorials to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Michigan United Conservation Club in Roger's memory.
