Robert Vick

May 26, 1932 — June 29, 2017

Robert "Bob" Carl Vick Robert Carl Vick, of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at the home of his daughter (Stacy Lynn Carroll) on June 29, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was 85. Bob was born at home on May 26, 1932 in Washington, Michigan to Maynard F. and Hilda E.(nee Krieger) Vick. He was their second of five children. He attended Washington Elementary School and Romeo High School in Romeo, Michigan. He graduated in 1951. He served in the United States Army at Fort Knox Kentucky as a Gunnery Instructor for Headquarters of the Third Armor Division. In February 1960 he married Marjorie Jean Redd Bugenski. Together with her and her two children Janice and Tony, they moved to Snyder Lake in Lewiston. They pooled their life savings and bought a portable sawmill to make a living together. They had 3 children, Frank, Stacy and Robin. Bob worked many jobs and owned his own business cutting pulp wood until the 1970s when he decided to work as a truck driver for Lewiston Lustre and later on for Rolled Products Incorporated. Bob went into "semi-retirement" and retained his chauffeurs license until he was in his late 70s. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his hunting and fishing. He was a skilled lumberjack, gifted mechanic and could build anything. Bob also loved motorcycles. In his youth he rode Indians and Harleys and he caught the bug again in the mid 80s after "borrowing" his son's Goldwing. Shortly after, he bought his own Goldwing and rode it from Michigan to Florida and even Nebraska. He loved riding with his daughter, Robin and got a huge kick out of teaching her how to drive an 18 wheeler. Anyone that met Bob became his friend. His laugh and humor were infectious and one of a kind. He was also the world's biggest flirt and never forgot a joke. Bob was a loving and giving man, always known for his big heart and big stature as a man in the Lewiston community. He would help anyone and everyone he could. He loved his Snyder Lake neighbors like they were family too. He often said he couldn't have picked better neighbors. Above all else he loved his wife and children, grand children and great grandchildren. He shared many stories about his youth and had fond memories of his grandparents farms - especially his mother's family farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, his bothers Donald and Harold. He lost his beloved Marjorie on Christmas Day of 1988. He is survived by his children Frank Robert Vick of Lewiston, Stacy Carroll (Roger) of Lewiston, and Robin Cohoe of Battle Creek, Michigan. He is also survived by his two younger sisters: Marilyn Plank of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Margaret Dulz of Washington, Michigan. Also survived by five grandchildren Brian (Grace), Mike (Keisha), David (Courtney), Taylor (Jarrid), and Kimberly. Four great grandchildren Lucas, Scarlett, Sawyer and Chloe along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. As were his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held for Mr Vick on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston. There will be visiting from 11:00 AM until time of service.
