Mr. Robert John Van Coillie, 85 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully on July 11, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born on May 24, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late, Louis and Marie (Bery) Van Coillie. He married his wife, Clara (Capelle) Van Coillie in 1956 and together the couple celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing. They have resided in Lewiston since 1976 where Robert owned and operated Lewiston Concrete until 1998 when he sold the business to his sons. Robert was a car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows. He was known as a handy man and could fix almost anything. From the time his sons were little he owned Brittany Spaniels. He loved hunting, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, and traveling all around Michigan with Clara.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Van Coillie of Lewiston; sons, John (Debbie) Van Coillie; Michael (Brenda) Van Coillie both of Lewiston; grandchildren, John (Allison) Van Coillie of Lewiston; Bradley Van Coillie of Mason; Brian Van Coillie of Lewiston; great-grandson, A.J.; and sister, Betty Longe of Rochester Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie Van Coillie; and brother, Dave.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial held in celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network, PO Box 5046, Greensburg, PA 15601.
