Richard Harrison Ghainer

Mr. Richard Harrison Ghainer of Lewiston, Michigan died on April 8, 2024 at his home at the age of 89. Richard was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 16, 1934 to Reuben and Doris (Ferguson) Ghainer. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Richard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gaylord, Michigan, American Legion Post 198, and he was a lifetime member of the 45th Parallel Lodge No. 581. He worked as an electrician for the state of Michigan for many years. Richard took great pride in caring for his home and had a very strong work ethic. He was neighborly and would help others that had any mechanical needs or something they needed repaired. He is and will be deeply missed. 

 He is survived by his children, Laura (John) Hoye of Jackson; Stephen Ghainer of Lansing; Jeffrey Ghainer of Holt; grandson, Christopher; sister, Slyvia Ghainer of Lewiston; brother-in-law, William Kurth of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; cousins, Ronald (Sherry) Gainer of Virginia; Donna Gainer of East Lansing; William (Dorothy Ann) Ferguson of La Crosse, Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews; great nephew, Jonathon; and great niece, Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Doris Ghainer; loving wife, Mary; cousin, Gordon; and sister-in-law, Susan Kurth. 

 A private graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Albert Township Cemetery, Lewiston where Richard will be laid to rest beside Mary. There will be a celebration of life held in memory of Richard at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations have been suggested to our local American Legion Post 198 or to Twin Lakes Marina in Lewiston, Michigan 49756 to assist in funding the Fourth of July fireworks show. Both of these organizations were near and dear to Richard’s heart so please consider donating in his memory.
