Richard Fierens

Richard James Fierens Richard James Fierens, 25, of Ypsilanti, formerly of Lewiston, MI passed away on July 6, 2007 as the result of a traffic accident. He was born on March 2, 1982 to Jack and Debi (Hook) Fierens in Gaylord, MI. He graduated from Johannesburg Lewiston High School in 2000. Richard proudly joined the National Guard at age 16, still enlisted and serving up until now. He spent a year in Iraq, and was honored to be a soldier. He was currently attending Eastern Michigan University where he was pursuing a law degree, passing his LSATS on the first attempt. Richard loved to play poker, he knew all the percentages of every pair of Texas Hold Em down cards. He enjoyed participating in the Mock Trial competitions between universities. He always loved politics, and according to him, was going to be president one day. Richard is survived by his parents, Jack and Debi Fierens, of Lewiston; sister Becki Fierens of Denver, CO; brother, Adam Fierens of Lewiston, MI; Grandparents, Richard and Sally Fierens of Essexville, MI; Grandfather, Jack Hook of Coshocton, Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services for Mr Fierens will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Green Funeral Home, Rev Robert Butler Officiating. Interment will take place at the Kittle Cemetery in Mio, MI, with full military honors being honorably provided. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in Lewiston. Memorials have been suggested to the Fierens Family where a memorial fund will be set up in Richards honor.
