Mr. Richard Norling Burley, 90 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on August 17, 2024. He was born in Flint, Michigan on November 10, 1933 to the late Lee Roy and Ruth (Norling) Burley. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He has owned property in Hillman since 1940 but moved here permanently in 1995. Richard was a member of the Elks Lodge in Alpena. He enjoyed offshore fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, and golfing. He lived a full and rich life and took great pleasure in hosting his son, grandsons, and their friends for annual “deer camp” giving lifelong friends an opportunity to reconnect. He is and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by son, Bruce (Kimberly) Burley; daughter, Jennifer (Wade) Burley-Jones; grandchildren, Joshua, Elise, Connor, Walker, Aubree; and great-grandchild, Chelsea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Ruth Burley; wife, Janine; in-laws, Genevieve and Henry Zeibig; and sister, Evelyn Gustin.
Funeral services for Mr. Burley will take place at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Green Funeral Home, Hillman. Visitation will take place from 2:00 PM until time of service. Interment will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint where Richard will be laid to rest.
