Paul Koernke

Paul O. Koernke Paul O. Koernke, 77, of Lewiston, MI, passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was born on November 24, 1929 to Oscar and Doris (Burden) Koernke in Ann Arbor, MI. He married the former Bennie Mae Thomas on March 31, 1950 in Ann Arbor, MI. Paul worked in plumbing and heating at the University of Michigan, retiring and moving to Lewiston in 1980. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Bank Beavers, hunting and fishing group. He also was a policeman in Ann Arbor for several years. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1949 He will be missed by all of his family and friends, including the Bank Beavers. Paul is survived by his wife, Bennie of Lewiston; son Doug Koernke of Florida; daughter, Brenda (Ron Wellman) Bell of Fowlerville, MI; grandchildren Carrie (Brian) Cassidy and Matt (Julia) Bell, great grandson Brogan Cassidy, two brothers, William T. (Nita) Koernke Sir and Richard (Sandy) Koernke; four sisters, Helen Vogel, Virginia Harry) Shin, Ruby (Rod) Rodriquez, and Nancy Davis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Russel and Herman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lewiston, MI, Pastor Robert Butler officiating. There will be a brief visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will take place in Albert Twp Cemetery, Lewiston, MI. Memorials are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
