Orla Mcelhinney

Orla Dean McElhinney Orla Dean McElhinney, 82, of Hillman, passed away at his residence on February 18, 2010. Orla was born on January 17, 1928 in Snover, MI to Bela and Mary (Scouten) McElhinney in Snover, MI. He married the former Eleanor Finley on March 28, 1948 in Hillman. He graduated from Hillman High School in 1946, then moved to Romeo to work on the Travers Turkey Farm, before moving to New Jersey in 1939 for several years. They returned to Michigan when he got a job with the State of Michigan as an electrician, where he remained until he retired in 1993, and has lived in Hillman ever since. Dean is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Hillman, MI; sons, Robert of Detroit, MI, Lyle (Joan) of Hillsboro, OR, and Thomas of Hillman, MI; daughters, Juanita (Richard ) Lucius of Clifford, MI, Geraldine (Carl) Litchfield of Bellaire, MI, and Carolyn Chambers of Alpena, MI; 22 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister Ardis Bentley of Bristol, TN; and brother in law Sidney Lindeke of Palmer, AK. He was preceded in death by his son, David of Caro, MI, brothers, Gerald of Houston, TX, and Ross of Hillman, MI; and a sister Margaret Lindeke of Palmer, AK. Funeral services for Mr McElhinney will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, with Rev Jim Killian and Rev Walt Smith officiating with a luncheon following at the Community Baptist Church in Hillman. Interment will take place in the Spring at Hillman Rust Twp Cemetery.
