Murl Marlatt Murl Marlatt, 81, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on October 29, 2008 at Engleharts Care Home in Atlanta. She was born on March 11, 1927 to Charles and Stella (Patton) Brown in Atlanta, MI, and spent most of her life here as well. She attended Big Rock Congregational Church. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary, a 50 yr member of the Eastern Star, and also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sororiety. She retired from Atlanta Schools after 25 years as a teacher. She loved cooking, gardening, and mushrooming and was an avid reader. Murl loved to shop, especially for her children and grandchildren. Murl is survived by her husband, Raymond Marlatt of Atlanta; son, Robert (Tammy) Lucal of Traverse City, MI; daughter, Mary Jo (Dave) Guest and son, Dave Marlatt, both of Atlanta; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Lyle) McDonald of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lucal; brothers, Clyde, Wayne, and Dave Brown; and sisters, Wanda Dann and Dolores Mowery. As were her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 1. 2008 at 4:00 PM at the Big Rock Congregational Church, Pastor Brian Tidd officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 PM until time of service.
