Merrill Kendrick

Merrill Wigton Kendrick Merrill Wigton Kendrick, 91, of Lewiston, MI, passed away at Tendercare Alpena on January 14, 2010. He was born on December 21, 1918 to Ralph and Kathleen (Wigton) Kendrick in Sunbury, OH. He married the former Elizabeth Jane Scott on March 7, 1942 in Akron, OH. He served his country during WWII in the US Navy. Merrill retired from Goodyear Aerospace in June of 1983 as a department manager in purchasing after 43 yrs of service. He and his wife Betty moved to Lewiston in 1984 from Tallmadge, OH. While in Ohio, he served as a village councilman, on the community service council and planning commission in Mogadore, and was a member of the Tallmadge Congregational Church. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. Above all else, his family always came first. Merrill is survived by his son, Russell (Julie) Kendrick of Atlanta, MI; grandsons, Doug (Kristen) Kendrick of Escanaba, MI, Todd (Karen) Kendrick of Atlanta, MI, and Ryan Kendrick of Banbridge, Northern Ireland; great grandchildren, Sarah, Gregory, Jered, Seth, and Tucker of Atlanta, MI, and Erin of Northern Ireland. and his aunt, Lucille Lucas of Westerville, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 yrs, Betty. Funeral services for Mr Kendrick will be held on Monday, January 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The Kendrick family would like to express a sincere appreciation and thanks for the care that he received from Tendercare Nursing Home in Alpena over the past five years.
