Merle Max Klein Merle Max Klein, 89, of Atlanta, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Gaylord, MI. He was born on February 27, 1920 to Edward and Pearl (Haqrvey) Klein in Rust Twp, MI. He has lived in the Atlanta area most of his life. He married the former Lahoma Ray back in 1940 in Ohio. He served his country in the US Army, and was a life member of the Atlanta VFW. He enjoyed deer hunting and horses. He drove a team of horses at Turtle Lake Club for 50 yrs. Merle is survived by his daughter, Janet (Neil) Berry of Vanderbilt, MI; sons, Randy of Gaylord, MI, and Scott of Atlanta, MI; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon (Marilyn) Klein of Atlanta, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Lahoma; sister, Elizabeth Johnson; and a brother, Harvey Klein. As were his wishes, a memorial gathering for Mr Klein will be held on Friday evening from 5-8 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI. The family has suggested memorials to the Atlanta Food Bank or to the Atlanta VFW Memorial fund to construct the new memorial in front of the Montmorency County Courthouse.
