Melvin E. Layman Melvin Ellis Layman, 88, of Atlanta, MI passed away June 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born on July 27, 1919 to John and Elizabeth (Meyers) Layman in Fayette County, PA. He servied his country in the US Army during WWII, later he retired from Ford Motors in Dearborn, MI. Melvin has lived in Atlanta for the past 25 yrs. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Melvin is survived by his children, Hilda (Jim) Keller of Ravenna, OH, Melvin (Lavada) Layman of Normalville, PA, Sarah Low of Shippensburg, PA, and Willard (Patty) Layman and Jeanette (Archie) Lidey both of Scottsdale, PA; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and sisters, Fern Folten of Normalville, PA, Irene Wilson of Union Town, PA, and Hilda (Tom) Fitch of Olney, MD. He was preceded in death by a son Samuel and a grandson Stephen. As were his wishes cremation has taken place and there are no services planned at this time.
