Melvin Kelly Hays Melvin Kelly Hays, 62, of Lewiston, passed away on January 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born on August 3, 1947 to Ivan and Aretta (Nash) Hays in Detroit, MI. He has lived in Lewiston for the past 12 yrs, prior to that he moved around a lot. He favorite place however, was the time he spent on the shores of New Jersey. Kelly served his country during the Vietnam war, and owned and operated a Pepsi distributor for a number of years in NJ. He was an avid fisherman and reader. He enjoyed playing chess and had a love for big cars. Kelly is survived by his nephews, Efrem (Jennifer Smith) Jasso of Madison, WI, and Matthew Jasso of Saginaw, MI; great nephew, Deacon Jasso; and great niece, Chanel Jasso. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Fox, and sister, Pamely Karen Pratt. Memorial services for Mr Hays were held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 with the Lewiston American Legion Post 198 providing the honors. Interment and further military honors will be provided at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
