Maurice Martin Ecklid Maurice Martin Ecklid, 79, of Lewiston, MI, passed away on January 24, 2010 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on May 8, 1930 to Harlan and Elsie Ecklid in Escanaba, MI. He lived in the Escanaba area until moving to Ypsilanti in 1948, then moved to Lewiston in 1972. He worked as a self employed carpenter for many years. Maurice was a memver of the Lewiston Moose and the Atlanta Eagles. He loved to fish, especially in Little Bay DeNoc in the U.P. He liked to play cards and was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Moose. Maurice is survived by his children, Dave (Cheryl) Ecklid of Kentucky, Deb Fritts of Hudson, FL, LIsa (Steve) Wonderly of Lewiston, MI, Marty (russ) Wheeler of Parker Dam, CA, and Edward (Kathy) Dunayczan of Texas; 14 grrandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a borther, Roy (Roberta) Ecklid of Marquette, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Elsie; daguhter, Robin Lee Ecklid; and a son, Jeff Allan Ecklid. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering for Mr Ecklid will be held in the Spring.
Maurice is survived by his children, Dave (Cheryl) Ecklid of Kentucky, Deb Fritts of Hudson, FL, LIsa (Steve) Wonderly of Lewiston, MI, Marty (russ) Wheeler of Parker Dam, CA, and Edward (Kathy) Dunayczan of Texas; 14 grrandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a borther, Roy (Roberta) Ecklid of Marquette, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Elsie; daguhter, Robin Lee Ecklid; and a son, Jeff Allan Ecklid.
As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering for Mr Ecklid will be held in the Spring.
