Mary M. Thompson Mary Madelin Thompson, "Mary D", 71, of Atlanta, MI passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at her residence. She was born on December 7, 1935 to James and Mary (Bullock) Clegg in Wyandotte, MI. She has lived in Atlanta since 1984 formerly of the Comins/Fairview area. She owned and operated Mary D's restaurant in Atlanta for 23 years. She was a life member of the Comins Eagles. Mary enjoyed bluegrass festivals, cooking, pottery, and ceramics. Above everything else, she took pride in supporting her town and helping others when they were in need. She was a friend to all and stranger to none. Mary is survived by her three sons, Wayne of Atlanta, MI, David of Marquette, MI, and Kevin of Atlanta, MI; three daughters, Deborah Thompson and Denice Kane both of Atlanta, MI, and Tammy Matthews of Wayne, MI; 20 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, Roger VanDeCar of Romulus, MI; and two sisters, Catherine (Joe) Creech of Atlanta, MI, and Hester VanDeCar of Romulus, MI. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Thompson, and two brothers, Butch VanDeCar and Michael Clegg. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service for Mrs Thompson at a later date.
