Mary J. Smith Mary Jane Smith, 72, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on July 10, 2010 at her residence. She was born on July 30, 1937 to Clarence and Ida (Dunvernois) Cooney in Linden, MI. She has lived in Atlanta since 1996 formerly of Holly, MI. She enjoyed word games, especially crosswords, and watching television with her husband. She loved to travel and shop. Above all else, Mary loved to be a part of her family. Mary is survived by her husband, James of Atlanta, MI; sons, Ed (Shelley) Mitchell of Lowell, MI, Daniel Mitchell of Gretna, LA, and Jimmie (Tracey) Bass II of Flint, MI; step daughters, Laura (Dan) Nash of Holly, MI, and Linda Larmon and Lisa Coleman, both of Simi Valley, CA; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Dale Cooney of GA, Tom Cooney of Flushing, MI, R. Wayne Cooney of Flint, MI, Larry Cooney of Linden, MI, and Joe Cooney of Flint, MI; and a sister Rose Bealer of Louisiana. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services for Mrs Smith planned at this time. The family has suggested memorials to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord, or to the Patient Activity Fund at Medilodge Nursing Home in Hillman.
