Mary Yolanda Russo

Mary Yolanda (Cupelli) Russo, 95 of Lewiston passed away peacefully Thursday morning September 5, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Mary (Bruno) and Joseph Capelli. She was born January 25, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the eldest of six children and was fondly called “Dolly” by her siblings and immediate relatives. She graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit. She met her late husband, Dr. Charles P. Russo in Junior College and they married on August 21, 1952. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. They raised ten children, enjoyed traveling, and spending time in Alamogordo, N.M. together. Mary enjoyed gardening, flowers, animals, painting, and her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Charles P. Russo; her brothers, Nick, Billy, and Philip, a sister, Frances and brother-in-law, Bob Eberhardt. She is survived by her ten children, Sam Russo, Annette (Sam) Harma, Chuck (Sandra) Russo, Madonna Russo, Christopher (Marilou) Russo, Paul (Kathleen) Russo, David (Robin) Russo, Catherine (Dave) Goosen, Patrice (Jim) Bush, and James Russo; a sister, Edith Latour; a sister-in-law, Anna Fradl; 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan and the Elk Country Animal Shelter in memory of Mary Y. Russo.
