In the early morning hours of Friday, April 14, 2023, Mrs. Mary Alice Van Blois Brown went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with her best friend at her side as she took her last breath. Mary was born on July 31, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late, Paul and Audrey (McTavish) Van Blois. She graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1959 and moved to Lewiston permanently in 1993. Mary had a passion for African violets and a large collection of which was featured in the Saginaw paper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lewiston for 25+ years. She loved to travel with her late husband, Calvin, and the two were able to visit Europe and took a trip to Alaska in their fifth wheel. It was during a camping trip one summer that Calvin and Mary met Bob and Lillian Whitney and the four became fast friends. They often did guided elk hunts with Bob and Lillian. Mary loved crafts and was an all-around wonderful, happy person with an always positive outlook on life. She is and will be very deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her brother, John (Nelly) Van Blois of Boca Raton, Florida; best friend, Bob Whitney of Johannesburg; and sister-in-law, Avonne Van Blois of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Audrey Van Blois; husband, Calvin; and brother, Dave.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
