Marvin Gary Hunt

Marvin Gary Hunt, of Hillman, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 2, 1940, Marv lived a life full of love, humor, and kindness. In 1959, he graduated from Hillman High School. Marv lettered in basketball and football and was a member of the 1959 Hall of Fame football team. He had a love for hunting, dogs, and sitting on the deck looking over the waters of Lake Avalon. People knew Marv for his kindness and generosity. He volunteered at the VFW hall plowing snow, assisting with medical equipment drives, and the delivery of medical equipment. He also started the first Alcoholics Anonymous support group in Hillman and worked with juvenile probation departments to help youth receive services.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Emily Hunt; brother, Rollin Hunt; special brothers, Glenn, Buster, and Ed Moran; and sister-and brother-in-law, Barb and Arnold Pyle. Marv is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Ann; his children, Jack (Kathy) Richards, Jeff Richards, Stephanie (Mike) Harmon, honorary daughter, Sherrie (Matt) Faulkner and his brother, Leonard Moran; grandchildren include Jaime (Ryan) Boyer, Chris (Kristin) Richards, Paul Richards and Drew and Anna Harmon; and great grandchildren, Brayden and Easton Boyer. Extended family includes niece, Jody Pyle, and nephew Rob (Brandie) Pyle with their children Zach, Jack (Nichole), and Nicholas. Also, brother- and sister-in-law, Chuck and Shelley Huntley and sister-in-law, Lois Hunt.

A service honoring Marv's life will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Green Funeral Home, Hillman. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. There will be a lunch following the funeral at the Calvary Episcopal Church.
