Marquis Huston Ii

March 15, 1933 — April 3, 2012

Marquis Edward Huston II Marquis Edward Huston II, 79, of Lewiston, MI, passed away at his residence on April 3, 2012. He was born on March 15, 1933 to Marquis and Esther (Moss) Huston in Saginaw, MI. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1951, attended the Highland Park Community College, and then entered the US Army and served during the Korean War. After the service, he attended Michigan State University where he earned his bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Institutional Management in 1958. He worked for Stouffer Corp for several years, and also NML Insurance Co, before moving to Lewiston in 1968 where he began working in real estate with his aunt, Marion Huston at Huston Real Estate. He purchased the real estate business in 1969 and owned and operated it until 2000 when he sold to his son, Shawn. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lewiston, serving as a trustee for the church, and also the Michigan Association of Realtors, where he was on the Public Policy Committee for 40 years. He was a past member of the Lewiston Lions Club, the old Sheridan Valley Ski Club, the Lewiston Moose, and Ducks Unlimited to name a few. He was also a contributor to the Otsego Memorial Foundation and had been the chairman for Montmorency Commission on Aging for the past two years. Mark enjoyed the outdoors and was a conservationist. He especially liked to ski in the winter and time on the lake as an "aspiring yachtsman". He enjoyed traveling all over the world with his family, including time spent at their home in the south of France. He was a dog lover, having had numerous best friends over the years. Mark was an avid reader, a fabulous chef, and was quite the grill master. Mark is survived by his wife Jan of Lewiston, MI; his sister Nancy Schulein of Denver, CO; his sons, Mark of Seattle, WA, and Shawn (Wendy) Huston of Lewiston, MI; his daughter, Heather (Kim) Wagner of Mill Valley, CA; and grandchildren, Connor, Avery, Parker, and Larson. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lewiston, Pastor Ginny Titus and Pastor Keith Titus officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to the Otsego Memorial Hospital Foundation, Hospice of Michigan in Gaylord, or to the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lewiston. Condolence messages can be sent via our website, www.greenfuneralhomes.com
