Marie Colombo Marie Colombo, 89, of Lewiston, MI, passed away on November 6, 2010 at Ausable Valley Home in Fairview, MI. She was born on June 27, 1921 to Peter Gumm and Estella Gabara in New Orleans, LA. She married Anthony Colombo on November 29, 1941 in Detroit. She moved from Livonia in 2008 to Lewiston where she was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In 1989, Marie returned to her schooling and graduated with a high school diploma through Franklin High School Adult Education. She was a member of the Livonia Civic Chorus for many years and was also a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den leader. She was a devoted follower of Fr. Solanus Casey from St. Bonaventures in Detroit. She taught swimming lessons for years and was an avid golfer and enjoyed her time helping at Lewiston Community Sharing. Marie is survived by sons, Larry (Claudette) Colombo of Atlanta, MI, Joe (Anne) Colombo of Douglasville, GA, Tom (Carol) Colombo of Farmington, MI and Anthony Colombo of Clawson, MI; daughter Shirley (Tom) Latimer of Lewiston, MI; sister Donna (Lou) Economo of Farmington, MI; Maxine Thompson of Clinton Twp, MI; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony. Funeral services for Mrs. Colombo will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond Cotter officiating. Internment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorials to the Lewiston Community Sharing or the The Capuchian Soup Kitchen in Detroit.
