Margaret Delfert

Margaret Theresa Delfert Margaret Theresa Delfert, 87, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2008, at the MediLodge of Hillman, Michigan. Born August 31, 1920, in Johnstown Pennsylvania she married Anthony L. Delfert in May of 1943. He preceded her in death in 1973. Margaret enjoyed music, crocheting, cooking, and weekends at their cabin on Lost Lake in Skidway Lake, MI. After her husband's death, she moved to Brighton, MI, from her home in Hamtramck, MI, to be near her daughters and their families, returning to Johnstown for a number of years to help care for her aging parents. While there, she enjoyed working at the Johnstown Flood Museum and making pierogi for their fund-raisers. She moved to Northern Michigan in August of 2005 with daughter, Alicia, and son-in-law Mike Needham. She is survived by her daughters, Alicia (Michael E.) Needham of Hillman, MI, Michaelene Pawlak of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren Leanne (Jack) Mason of North Carolina, Doug (Kerry) Sobieski of Ohio, Natalie (David) Hansen of Maryland, April Pawlak, Maureen Pawlak, and Ross Pawlak of Ann Arbor, MI; great-granddaughter, Hannah, of Ohio; brothers Paul (Margaret) Batko of Johnstown, PA, Michael (Maria) Batko of Harrisburg, PA, and sisters, Agnes Infantino of Somerset, PA, and Jean Woodrow of Altoona, PA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, and her remarkable care-givers at the Medi-Lodge of Hillman, MI. In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary (Chema) Batko; brother John Batko, and sisters Mary Batko, Ann Chimiak, and Helen Zahurak. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Interment will take place at Mt Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. MI. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: MediLodge of Hillman, Attn: Justin Moreau, Director, 631 Caring Street, Hillman, MI 49746, to be used for residents' activities.
