Margaret Burgess

Margaret "Peggy" Burgess Margaret "Peggy" Burgess, 90, of Lewiston, MI, passed away on February 22, 2010 at Grayling Mercy Hospital. We were blessed to have her in our lives. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a gentle soul that made her family her life. She will be greatly missed by all. Margaret was born on January 22, 1920 in Flint, MI to Robert and Edna (Tiffany) Elliot. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School. Peggy married Benjamin Burgess on September 22, 1938, having celebrated 60 yrs of marriage together. They lived in Flint, MI, where they raised their three children, later moved to Cody, WY, and in the 1970's came back to Lewiston, MI where they remained. She was a member of the Lewiston United Congregational Church of Christ, the Ladies Fellowship at the church, the Lewiston Lions, Extension Club, and the Farm and Garden Club. Margaret is survived by her son, John Burgess of Merrit Island, FL; daughter, Janet (Gary Carr) Burgess of Flint, MI; daughter in law, Jeanne Burgess of Flint, MI; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Bob Elliot of Lewiston, MI; sister, Catherine Danne of Lewiston; sister in law, Kathy Elliot of New Lathrop, MI; and brother in law in law, Ed Carrick of Lewiston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; son, Kenneth; grandson, John; and 8 siblings. Funeral services for Mrs Burgess will be held on Friday, February, 26, 2010 at 12:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI, Pastor Toby Stadden officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM and again on Friday form 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment will take place in the Spring at Albert Twp Cemetery.
