Marcus E. Hawley Marcus Edward Hawley, 91, of Alpena, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1916 to William and Emma (Miner) Hawley in Green Twp, MI. He married the former Laurina "Jean" Stevens in 1958 in Alpena. He grew up in the Hillman area. Mark served his country during WWII in the US Army. He worked for the City of Alpena before moving to Lansing, where he worked and eventually retired from Reed-Noyce Excavating. He was a member of the Laborers International Union Local 499. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved to camp and garden. Mark is survived by his wife, Jean of Alpena; four daughters, Geneva (Dave) Decker and Christine (William) Sheldon, both of Lansing, MI, Deborah (Jay) Krebiehl of Hillman, MI, and Gloria (Richard) Wolgast of Flint, MI; two sons, Terry (Sharon) Garfield of Grand Blanc, MI, and James (Vicki) Garfield of Flint, MI; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Rudd, Hazel LaGraff, and Alta Snider; and three brothers, Carl, Lloyd, and Earl Hawley. Funeral services for Mr Hawley will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 12:00 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman, MI, Pastor James Garfield officiating. Visitation hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Memorials have been suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena.
