Leslie David Thornton

Mr. Leslie "Les" David Thornton, 68 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan on December 3, 2024. He was born in Paducah, Kentucky on December 31, 1955 to David and Dorothea (Bloomer) Thornton. Les married his wife, Elaine (Heckler) Thornton on September 16, 1978 and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage and raised three children. They have resided in Lewiston for 20 years. Les worked as a controller for AMI Industries in Lewiston from 2005-2016. He was a member of E-Free Church in Gaylord. He enjoyed cooking and canning, but mostly spending time with family. He is and will be deeply missed. 

 Les is remembered by his loving wife, Elaine Thornton; children, Christopher (Ruth) Thornton, Emily (Jake) Thornton, and Connor Thornton; grandchildren, Victor and Juliana; mother, Dorothea Sharples; sister, Tempy (Jed) Mignano; and stepsiblings, Dave (Kathy) Sharples, Les Sharples, Dennis (Roberta) Sharples, Mary (Roger) Minnich, Carol (Maria) Stultz; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, David Thornton; and stepfather, Bruce Sharples. 

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Les privately at this time.
