Leona Valentine

Leona Pearl Valentine Mrs. Leona Pearl Valentine, 90, of Atlanta, Michigan passed away on December 5, 2017 at her residence. She was born on January 11, 1927 to Clarence and Velma (Bennett) Potter in Cheboygan, Michigan. She married Martin Valentine on November 28, 1946 and together the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing. Leona lived most of her life in the Atlanta area. She worked at the Atlanta Exchange Bank, then Lewiston State Bank, and retired from First of America all within the same building. She was a member of Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta. She enjoyed volunteering over the years for many organizations, including Hospice and the Salvation Army. Above all else, Leona cherished time with her family and will be dearly missed. Leona is survived by her sons, Ernie of Traverse City, Michigan, and Larry (Pam) of Atlanta, Michigan; daughter, Sheryl (Steve) Wright of Lachine, Michigan; grandchildren, Mason (Ashley) Valentine, Mitchell (Nicole) Valentine, Tyler Wright, McKenzie Wright, Carla (Andrew) Nickodemus, and Marlee Valentine; great-grandchildren, Brennen, Gavin, Cassidy, Gabrielle, Emerson, Alyssa, and Kaleb; brother, John (Fran) Potter of Illinois, and sister, Ruth (Jack) Christian of Rockford, Michigan; special nieces and nephews Bob(Kathy) Brooks; Betty (Ted) Whitmire; and Bonnie (Jeff) Flynn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Velma; husband, Martin; brother, Laverne; and sister, Leva Gunneson. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Mrs. Valentine will be held in celebration of her life at 4:00PM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Big Rock Congregational Church, Pastor Keith Jones officiating.
