Leo Brunskill Mr. Leo Brunskill, 90, passed peacefully away on July 17, 2013. He lived a long and fulfilling life; most of it in Lewiston, Michigan. For the past two years, he resided at Hilltop Manor in Roscommon, Michigan tended to by the many dedicated caregivers at the facility. Leo's sense of humor and outgoing demeanor made him the life of the party while residing there. On January 20, 1923 in Kansas, Leo was born to Sam and Margaret (Bertolli) Brunskill. While growing up, his family traveled between Kansas, Texas, Illinois, and Michigan. His travels continued when he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. He served his nation proudly until 1945. Shortly after discharge he met the love of his life, Lanora, at a family wedding. They wed on October 12, 1946 at All Saint's Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. Leo and Lanora moved to Lewiston, Michigan in 1956 where they owned and operated Brunskill's Resort with his brother Fred and his wife, Lee. After selling the resort, Leo opened Lewiston Arctic Cat while Lanora managed the other family enterprise, The Quickie Chickie, both co-owned with Lanora's uncle and aunt, John and Lorraine Paffi. After selling those businesses, Leo worked at Garland Resort as a groundskeeper. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Among those welcoming Leo to the Lord's Heavenly Home will be his loving wife, Lanora; his parents, Sam and Margaret; and beloved brother, Fred; along with many other dearly loved family members and friends. Leo's quick wit and engaging personality will be missed by his devoted son, Brian (Gina) Brunskill; granddaughters, Melissa (Christopher) Menzies; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kaityln Menzies; and his sister, Arlene (Don) Monroe. Funeral services for Mr. Brunskill were held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Lewiston, MI; Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa officiating.
