Lavina V. Stuebing Lavina V. Stuebing, 98, passed away on October 22, 2007 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Gaylord, MI. She was born on January 3, 1909 in Rust Twp, to William and Amie (Margeson) Oswald. She married Ervin W Stuebing on March 4, 1927 in Rust Twp on her Grandfather's farm. They lived in Rust a couple of years while Ervin worked for the Boyne City, Gaylord, and Alpena Railroad, before moving to Atlanta where they lived most of their lives. She then spent three years in Boyne City with her daughter, before moving into the nursing home at Gaylord two years ago. Lavina attended a one room County School 1st thru 8th grade and walked about two miles to school. She remembered the first automobile she saw when she was quite young. She wa a member of Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta, where she enjoyed many years with the womens fellowship group. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing (especially quilt blocks), gardening, and ice fishing with Ervin. In her later years, she enoyed some traveling with her daughter and families. Lavina is survived by one daughter, Betty (Archie) Klein of Boyne City, MI; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin on July 1, 1978 and a daughter Marvel Robinson on July 7, 1995; also four sisters, Mary Oswald, Hazel Ostrander, Violet Klein and Viola McIntyre; and three brothers, William, Daniel, and Emerald "Dewey" Oswald. Funeral services for Mrs Stuebing will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta, Pastor Brian Tidd officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the Church. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI. Condolence messages can be sent via our website, Interment will take place later in the afternoon at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Big Rock Congregational Church.
