Laurie Ann Rabe Mrs. Laurie Ann Rabe, 58 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at her home on October 26, 2016. She was born in Marquette, Michigan on August 17, 1958 the daughter of Kenneth and Marilynn (Simmons) Heim. She had vacationed in Lewiston with her family since 1965, moving here permanently in 1979. On June 30th of that same year she married her husband, Barry Rabe, and together the couple celebrated 37 years of marriage before her passing. Laurie was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where she obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education. She taught kindergarten for 30 years in Atlanta and retired in the 2011-2012 school year. She was a member of the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies from collecting depression glass and teddy bears, spending time reading at the Lewiston Library, and traveling and camping all throughout the United States. She visited many of the National Parks, including four trips to Yellowstone. Laurie loved to knit scarves for the children in her class, and was the most understanding wife when it came to her husband, Barry and his love for cars and car shows. Above all that she did, Laurie enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Barry Rabe of Lewiston; son, Nathan (Emily) Rabe of Detroit; daughter, Sarah (Jason Drewek) Rabe of Detroit; father, Kenneth (Kathleen) Heim of Westland; brothers, Tim (Maureen) Heim of Tecumseh; Scott (Carol) Heim of Westland; and sister, Lisa (Norm) Kugler of Carpentersville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilynn. Funeral services for Mrs. Rabe will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Green Funeral Home; Lewiston; Pastor Dave Engel officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the Lewiston Library.
