Laura Garfield

October 26, 1920 — March 29, 2014

Laura May Garfield Mrs. Laura May Garfield, 93 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away on March 29, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to the late, James and Augusta (Schultz) Ward in Saginaw, Michigan on October 26, 1920. She moved to Atlanta in the 70s, formerly of Rust. Laura worked as a nurse's aide at Community Mental Health. She cleaned at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan as well. While living in Hillman, she worked for Knotty Pines as a cook. In her free time she enjoyed to crochet, knit, and quilt. She loved to be outside taking care of her flowers and bird watching. Laura was an avid reader as long as it was a good book, and if it wasn't she would tell you, especially if the print was too small. Above everything, she enjoyed the time that she spent with family and friends and will be forever missed. She is survived by daughter, Virginia Paul of Atlanta; Geneva (Dave) Decker of Mason; Chris (Bill) Sheldon of Lansing; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Marty Sauls of Hillman. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Augusta Ward; husband, Horace Garfield; daughter, Diane DeBoer; and sister, Marie Prolard. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled for Mrs. Garfield at this time.
