Kenneth Smith Kenneth Russell Smith, 75, of Hillman, MI, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2007 in Escanaba, MI. He was born on November 27, 1931 to Russell and Loretta (Eagle) Smith in Rust Twp, MI. He married the former Joan Marie Linseman on April 8, 1954 in Hillman. Kenny served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, while there he was injured in duty. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 2356 in Hillman. He retired from GM Truck and Bus as a supervisor of the paint department after 30+ years of service. In retirement, Kenny worked at the Hilltop Party Mart, A1 Woods & Waters, and also tied fishing tackle. He was the caretaker of Bietler's Hunting Camp form many years. Kenny had a passion for fishing, especially his trips to Canada. He loved to talk and tell stories. Kenny is survived by his wife, Joan, of Hillman, MI; son, DeWayne (Shilo) Smith of Hillman, MI; two daughters, Diania (Don) Spindler and Loretta Cousineau, both of Hillman, MI; grandchildren, Kenny, Josh, and Dakota; great grandchildren, Jordan and Kobe; brothers, Jack (Marlene) Smith, and Bill (Ann) Smith, both of Hillman, and Gary (Gayle) Smith of East Tawas, MI; sister, Patricia (Alfred) Purdy, and brother, Raymond Headley of Hillman, MI. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bucky Smith; and son in law, Mike Cousineau. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the Hillman Community Center at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Jason Mandley and VFW Post 2356 officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the community center.
