Mr. Kenneth Roland Nickert, 74 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly at his home on July 4, 2022. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 4, 1948 to the late, Roland and Velma (Greczi) Nickert. He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a tank operator. Ken worked for General Motors and retired at the age of 54 to move to Lewiston and help care for his mother. He has resided in Lewiston for the last 20 years. Ken was a member of the Masons and the UAW. He loved to play baseball when he was younger, and enjoyed watching movies, talking on the phone, and the company of his cat, Zippy. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino or purchasing a scratch off lottery ticket. He was very social and always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was very generous and never allowed anyone to leave his home on an empty stomach. He will be deeply missed.
Ken is survived by his nephews, Daniel Maslanka, Scott (Amy) Maslanka, Douglas Maslanka; great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Emily, and Forest; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Velma Nickert; and sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Raymond Maslanka.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Ken privately at this time.
